Blog Post: A New Director Appointed at the Skolkovo Space & Telecommunications Cluster

Alexey Belyakov was appointed as a new executive director of the Space and Telecommunications Cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation. In 2003 Alexey Belyakov has graduated from The Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute, the Theoretic Physics faculty. He also completed postgraduate studies at the Physics faculty of the Moscow State Lomonosov University (MSU), at the General Physics and Wave Processes faculty (2006). He has a Candidate of Science degree in physics and mathematics. While studying as postgraduate student, he also worked as a project manager with the Active Optics, an MSU company, which makes high precision optical elements for astronomical observations. Alexey Belyakov In 2007 Alexey Belyakov joined the I2BF Global Ventures, a venture fund, which specializes in investments into hi-tech projects. In 2009 he became partner and head of the Moscow office of the fund. And in 2011 he also assumed a position of investment director with the joint investment company VTB Capital - I2BF Innovation Partners. In I2BF Global Ventures Mr. Belyakov arranged investment deals in such spheres as energy, clean energy and resource effectiveness, new materials, robotics technology, aerospace industry. He played a key role in arranging more than 20 international investment deals, which were carried out in cooperation with the leading venture (KPCB, Firelake Capital, Khosla Ventures) and strategic (BP Ventures, Robert Bosch Venture Partners, GE Ventures) partners. Two companies were successfully sold afterwards and one of them was subject to public placement through IPO procedures. Alexey is member of the Board of Directors of the Dauria Aerospace company, engaged in manufacturing of small satellites.
